4. Settings

In this new version you can setup a lot of features.

4.1 Files

This tabfolder is divided into three parts. The first one describes the way the free file format looks like. You can specify the order of the tags and layer options. Not all options are necessary. Only the filename is really important. Without a filename the KJukeBox does not know how to handle the song.

The second part is a very nice feature. In the KJukeBox you can specify some additional informations which are not part of the MP3 file standard. These options are saved in the JBD file format but not in the MP3 file. With this feature you can use the comment field of the MP3 file to save the settings there. But be careful, your original comments are completely lost.

The last part can perform your system. When you load a list of files the KJukeBox checks if the file exists. If not, the file should not be loaded. But the check takes a lot of time if you load a list of files which are stored on a cd. With this checkbutton you can switch off this check.

4.2 Player

The player tabfolder is divided in three parts. In the first one you can tell the player how to fade in, fade out or mix songs. The first switch enables or disables the mixing feature. Set it to "on" and the second player fades in while the first one is playing.
The second switch always enables the default time and overwrite the times of the songs. In the next field you can enter the time after how many seconds the player starts playing. Last seconds described, when the next song start to play, 10 seconds mean the complete song time sub 10 seconds.
The last switch enables the fade device. When the mixing begin the first song begin to fade out. The fade duration can must be specified in microseconds.

The seconds section sets the audio device. If your audio device is not /dev/dsp you can change it here.

The last section sets the quality of the player. You can downsample to 22khz and switch between mono and stereo. The settings take only affect after a restart of KJukeBox.

4.3 GUI

The GUI tabfolder is divided into three parts. The first two one setup what to do if a double click is pressed. It is possible whether to play the song immediately or to open the song information and tag editor window. You can setup database and playlist differently.

In the last section you can setup how to handle a crash of a player. In this version the kjukebox can recognize a player crash and is possible to start a new player. This is very important for a party where you want to play music every time.

4.4 General

The general tabfolder is divided into two parts. In the first one you can setup the UNIX priority of KJukeBox. Under Linux 20 means low priority and -20 highest priority. But don't be confused if it not work. Only root can set the priority to a value less than 0 and a user can only increase his priority. This option is therefor only interested for root.

The second part set some MP3 features. First you can setup what should happen, if a MP3 file without an ID3 tag is loaded. You can ignore it or load it with the default artist and album. The title is automaticly the filename. Another feature is to up case the first letter of each word. So it can never be happen that "Faith no More" and "Faith No More" are interpreted as different artists.
