Please notice that you have to load the SRND kernel module before you can start KSrnd. You can do this by typing (as root):
% modprobe srnd
If you use the kernel daemon (resp. Kmod) as mentioned in the SRND documentation, you don't have to load the module by hand.
The main window of KSrnd contains the Menubar, the Toolbar and some elements to control the main functions of the miroMEDIA Surround board.
Here you can select the active Surround mode:
With this slider you can change the master volume.
Here you can enable the Surround board's bypass function. The sound is looped through the board and will not be changed.
The window with the preferences can be opened with the menu Options|Preferences.
Here you can specify the special file KSrnd uses to communicate with the miroMEDIA Surround driver. It defaults to /dev/srnd. You have to restart KSrnd to make a change of this option take effect.
Here you can specify the command that is invoked when you select the menu item Options|Mixer.
Here you can enable the Tooltips in KSrnd's dialogs.
Here you can enable the Menubar in KSrnd's main window.
Here you can enable the Toolbar in KSrnd's main window.
Here you can allow KSrnd to dock itself to KPanel if you use the KWM window manager. In this case KSrnd appears as a small icon on KPanel. You can click with the left mouse button on it to hide or show the main window of KSrnd. With the right mouse button you get a popup-menu with KSrnd's main functions.
If you also check Start Docked the main window of KSrnd will be hidden when started.
If you choose this the settings in KSrnd's main window will be saved when you exit KSrnd. They are restored the next time you start KSrnd.
The window with the settings of the Surround modes can be opened with the menu Options|Mode Settings. Changes of the mode currently selected in the main window can directly be heared.
Here you can select you speaker arrangement:
With this slider you can adjust the volume of the left and right channel.
With this slider you can adjust the volume of the center channel. This slider is not available with the Phantom speaker arrangement.
With this slider you can adjust the volume of the Surround channel. This slider is not available with the Dolby 3 Stereo speaker arrangement.
With this button you can adjust the volumes to their maximum level without changing the proportions.
With this slider you can adjust the delay between the front channels and the Surround channel. The value may range from 15 to 30 milliseconds.
Here you can select a sound effect:
With this slider you can adjust the extent to which the selected sound effect is applied.
Here you can select the mode of the board's internal noise generator:
With this slider you can adjust the level of the generated noise.
